Do Nice Guys Finish Last?
Tebow is a good guy and a stellar athlete. His height and build was among the ranks of the strongest since Roman Gabriel of the Rams. Standing 6'3" tall and weighing around 240
pounds, Tim Tebow was referred to by one NFL coach as "the strongest human
being that's ever played the position of quarterback." The man knows how to win: the Heisman as a sophomore and turning the Broncos season around from 1-4 to the playoffs.
On the way to success, Tebow never sold his soul. He established the Tim Tebow Charity Foundation and connects his faith to his life. Fans watch him drop to his knees and pray--called "Tebowing." It's called prayer and drawing on your source of inner strength rather than outward excesses is something new to some pros who get it reversed.
So what happened to this guy? He got bumped out of Denver when Peyton Manning came to town for $96 mil and sent to the Jets where Sanchez was clearly the go-to QB. Even ardent Jet fan Joe Namath couldn't figure it out. "I wonder what they are doing over there," he said, adding that he hoped the deal would fall through.
Bottom line? The guy has gotten passed around and gotten out of place. Did his open display of faith in a secular world shock too many so that they black-balled him from the party? (Funny how the reverse behavior gets rewarded!) Where does he go now--the Canadian League?
Oh, it may be that nice guys finish last...but stellar athletes who never got their shot after earning it on the way up? My bet is that this guy is made of stuff that will serve him well. The League will be back begging--and on their knees.
